Lithium battery maker Gotion is investing $2 billion to establish its first North America-based factory in Manteno, Illinois. The plant, set to open next year, will reuse an existing facility, creating 2,600 jobs and producing 40 GWh lithium-ion battery cells, 10 GWh battery packs, and focusing on energy storage system integration. Gotion will receive $536 million in state incentives, including $125 million from the new Invest in Illinois fund, and $213 million over 30 years from the state’s Reimagining Energy and Vehicles (REV) Illinois Program.
